The Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) is a social security system whereby the health care of students in tertiary institutions is paid for from funds pooled through the contributions of students. It is a programme committed to ensuring access to qualitative health care service for students of tertiary institutions thereby promoting the health of students with a view to creating conducive learning environment.

It takes cognizance of the current practices and challenges faced by students in accessing care during the academic session, as well as the potentials of health facility of the tertiary institutions with the aim of maximizing access to quality health care services.

This programme is opened to both public and private tertiary institutions.

Out Patients Care

  • General Consultation

Internal Medicine

  • Basic internal medicine (uncomplicated)
  • Malaria & other acute uncomplicated febrile illnesses

  • Simple anemia (not requiring blood transfusion)

Pediatrics

  • Treatment of common childhood illnesses e.g. (Malaria, other febrile illnesses, diarrheal diseases, uncomplicated malnutrition, failure to thrive, measles ,upper respiratory tract infection, uncomplicated pneumonia and other childhood exanthemas, simple skin diseases and viral illnesses

Physiotherapy

Hospitalization

  • Hospitalization in a general ward for 15 days cumulative with the exclusion of meals. However the use of amenity /private wards and feeding will attract extra charges to the enrollee at the point of service.
